Educational study programmes for Schools
Over the past fifteen years Nature Quest has initiated and completed development of a series of environmental education and study abroad packages for students at upper high school level visiting New Zealand. As an outdoor classroom, the mountains, forests, fiords and islands of New Zealand are uncrowded, unmodified and unsurpassed in their splendour.
If you would like more information or have any queries concerning our Environmental Education Programmes please do not hesitate to contact us .
During the weeks you are in New Zealand, a number of specific modules may be incorporated in the programme. Every module is a combination of lectures, field work, group problem solving, recreational pursuits and active participation in habitat restoration. Each module focuses on a different aspect of the New Zealand environment and deals with current issues pertaining to that subject. Seven modules are currently developed, these are:
- Ancient Realms of Gondwanaland - the native forests of New Zealand
- Amaranthine Shores - New Zealand's marine environment
- Stranded in Paradise - the natural history of New Zealand
- In Cloud-Piercing Splendour - New Zealand's alpine regions
- Out on a Limb - ornithology in New Zealand
- The Insular Garden - New Zealand's vegetation
- Healing the Wounds - conservation holidays in New Zealand
Field trips and excursions during the modules include day treks into the forests and mountains, collection of field data in rainforest and along the rocky coastline, see whales, seals, dolphins, penguins and many rare and unusual birds. On non-study/travel days, an inexhaustible selection of optional activities are available, for example: bungy-jumping, mountain biking, luge runs, whitewater rafting, parapenting, horseback riding, boating, swimming with dolphins and visits to cultural centres. |
